You know, I should be studying or sleeping
instead of reading this blasted forum...:P
Yann, your page is contributing to my delinquency!
Anyway...
I disagree with the statement that making offers
on cels (as long as the offer is a serious and
fair one) is rude as long as the person making
the offer is polite, respectful and doesn't
continue to press the matter after receiving a
"no" answer. Now, I do think it can be taken
as an offense when someone offers a pitiful
amount for a rare or dearly-loved cel (I once
had someone offer me $20 for a cel that I paid
well over $350 for... and then this person
got extremely rude when I -politely- explained
that I was very attached to the cel and the offer
was nowhere near my cost).
I personally don't understand the need to label
cels "NFS" in galleries. Are you planning to sell
the others? I would think that whomever is
reading the captions could tell what cels are
favorites (ie. "wow, I adore this cel, it took me
forever to find it!" is a caption that would
make me extremely hesitant about offering a
trade or an amount of money). I currently still
don't have a gallery up, but when I did I never
got a whole lot of offers (maybe no one else
likes the things I have, who knows? that's ok,
more for me!) and always replied with a polite
response to the fair/polite offers. If someone
made a rude or offensive offer (say, $20 for the
$350 cel) I'd either reply politely and let that
be the end of correspondence or not reply at all.
The thing -I- think is rude is when someone never
replies to a polite offer (this is not aimed at
anyone in particular, btw)... I mean, how much
trouble is it to write "I'm sorry, this cel is
very dear to me and I don't plan to sell or trade
it for anything"? If you get too many offers on
one certain cel, then you can put up that silly
"NFS" notation.
