LOL!
Boy, can I relate to every word you said!
My message to Drac, pretty much points that out.
:-)
Our business is dolls, teddy bears...and, by
default Beanie Babies. We had them before they
were popular, and we still have them now...but not
in the numbers as before! There are a lot of very,
very vile people in our business. You would never
know it unless you were in it. But, we decided
from the start that we would stay honest, and that
has made a lot of difference. I could have made a
LOT of money, a lot of times, if I had chosen the
other way to go. And when my bills come, it is
hard to remember why I have stayed so honest!
;-)
With cels, I see a small distinction. Not
huge,though....
In most cases, it seems the cel world stays within
limits. The people who make a fortune on ebay with
one cel auction are lucky...imho. I only ever had
one auction that the price went sky high because
of two bidders...and the winning bidder threatened
me AND Ebay, with a lawsuit for allowing them to
bid over what they could handle! That Ebay had
created a situation where they could go out of
control, and I had caused the damage by putting up
a cel that they lost their mind with. So..I didn't
sell the cel. It was funny...but I sorta wanted
that money! Not that I counted on it, believe me.
But, I agree with your points in all respects.
You have no moral or ethical reason to not make
money on something that you do. It is HOW you
do it. And in any collectable market, it is always
a gamble. If the person who pays a fortune for an
average cel decides they want to sell it, there is
a good chance they won't get back a fraction of
their money, so they have made their own decision
and will live with it. But, I think most of them
are still having a lot of fun, and have a LOT more
money than me!
Anyone who doesn't wish they had a few of those
Zero Ryoko cels to sell...is nuts or lying to
themselves. Of course, if I had it, I couldn't
have sold it in the first place!
Well..on second thought, maybe I could. ;-)
