My comments in other posts notwithstanding, I 
couldn't agree with you more on this point. When 
I bid on eBay (and I do so very infrequently), I 
*always* wait until the last minute so as *not* 
to drive up the price for myself or whomever ends 
up winning. Usually about 5 minutes before the 
end of the auction, I'll put in my max bid.

As for overspending, I remember years ago when I 
got my first credit card I was warned how easy it 
was to overspend because it didn't really seem 
like you were spending. With eBay and internet 
purchases, that feeling is magnified tenfold. I'm 
sure most of the folks who pay outrageous amounts 
for cels and other things on eBay regret it later.
