I mean when you get to the bottom line, the whole
*point* of censorship is to keep people from
seeing things they don't want to see. The reason
that some things we *want* to see are censored is
because I don't think anyone here is the "lowest
common demoninator" where taking offense at
things is concerned.
That said, I would like to also restate Whizbang's
absolutely *perfect* phrase: "having a taste for
yaoi is NOT equatable to lacking morals!" I don't
know why the morals thing always get brought into
play. If I garner some entertainment in watching
two cartoon characters tie each other up and go
at it, that doesn't mean I lack morals. Explain
to me why it would be immoral! Who am I hurting?
What am I neglecting that I wouldn't be neglecting
if I were watching something else?
Now, would I show it to my seven-year-old cousin?
NEVER! But only because a seven-year-old isn't
capable of fully understanding the show (and
completely understanding the concept of it being
fiction) the way an adult can. I wouldn't read a
classic work like Dracula to my seven-year-old
cousin either for the same reason. It is
inappropriate material for his age group. Just
because something is inapproprate for a child to
watch or read, does NOT make it immoral.
And as far as anime editing goes, I've already
publicly stated that I see the reason for editing
anime that is played on children's morning
cartoon blocks. What I do NOT agree with is
editing the video releases of the anime - thus
bringing the whole damn thing down to a child's
level, and leaving nothing to be enjoyed at an
*ADULT* level. I like to enjoy childish things
now and then, but in general, I'm an adult and I
have (and have the right to have) more mature
interests - including yaoi.

(PS - Hey, Whizbang - if you're just going to hit
someone with that cel, can I swap it for my
fancel? ^_~)
