A tad defensive aren't we? Not to mention still snobbish.. and I would certainly never be so rude as to mention that your post certainly does NOT show off your superior intellect. Since you seem to like lists... 1) I beleive that Xane was pointing out that internet abbreviations can be just as annoying to some as the use of kawaii is to you - this is not being hypocritical, its called "making a point". You should learn it some time. 2) Using Japanese would not show off anyone's superior intellect, unless maybe they were under 5 and it was their third language. Does using the sentence "Muchinda galu" make me intellectually superior? No (not that I'm not, of course!), it just makes me *extremely* rude. 3)Your post wasn't controversial, it was out and out rude. Of course you'll point out that I'm being rude too, but at least I admit it - and also admit that its being used a) to fight fire with fire, b) partially as sarcasm, and c) partially because I'm amused by people who show off their ignorance while seemingly proclaiming their intellect. 4) Last time I checked, if a word is used a lot, it usually means that its a useful word. Obviously the people who use are doing so to convey a specific idea, which is better described (apparantly) in Japanese than in English. Sorry to correct Your Supreme Semanticness, but it looks from what I've read that they are using the word correctly. Maybe your just above things being cute though? If so its a shame. Az - feel free to email me...I, at least, know how to use the delete button to remove unwanted mail. |
