I only once have found a cel which was not shot/fake,
and whomever created it had access to the pencil.
The funny thing is, many people assume that when picking
between two identical cels, the cel which does not come
with a pencil is the fake.
In this case, the cel I bought came without a pencil.
I kept it and later on, a few months down the road I found
one at a convention which looked identical. So I bought it,
seeing as it had the pencil too, and took it home to
compare. The two cels were the same number and everything!
After freezeframing the ld and spotting the exact frame in
question, it turned out my 'sketchless' cel from before was
the original. There were tiny differences in 'scratches'
drawn on the characters' face, and these were probably
because the sketch does not specify every last line used
for fine scratches.
I have run into alot of people who are leary of buying cels
without sketches because they are afraid of getting a fake,
but be aware that cases like this can also happen... |
