I understand your point of view, but private
collectors are not businesses, and in a small
community like this, habitual selling for large
profit is going to make you a lot of enemies.
Smart businesses know that making the most money
possible by whatever mean possible isn't going
to help when you lose all your customers through
shady practices. Having a good relationship
with your customer base is a far better way to
make money in the long run, because that will
make loyal customers who keep coming back.
And I'm sorry, but I've seen this particular
seller for years buy up cels that are good deals
and then eBay them for triple, and heard of her
doing so for quite a while before I started
collecting. Yet there are always excuses
(repeatedly leaving the hobby, etc) When she
says she didn't intend to sell it for a profit,
well, I just can't believe her after this long.
Either be honest about what you're doing or sell
it for what it is actually worth, under the
definition of "it is worth what someone (you)
paid for it" If you start it around what you
paid and it goes a lot higher, then I don't see
any fault... that has happened to me a number of
times. And it's a hell of a lot more honest. |
