I wanted to try out CCS this summer and bought a 
DVD set at Dragon Toys. Oh the horror when I 
opened it: I shoulda checked at the store. It 
was the third season and a French dub. To think 
that I was looking forward to hearing Kero-
chan's dialect ;__;
Anyways, it's clearly been mistaken as too-dumb-
or-too-young-to-read-subtitles-and-pronounce-
Japanese-names audience material. So even the OP 
and ED songs are dubbed and I understand less of 
that fast-sung French than fast-sung Japanese! 
But no cuts, luckily. The character voices are 
very well-done though! But the names... Sakura, 
Kero and Yue still have their original names 
but...
Li is Lionel (that's still cute)
Eriol is Antony
Touya is Thomas
Yukito is Mathieu
Tomoyo is Tiffany
Meilin is Stephanie, I think
Suppi is Gotard
that Okama with Eriol is Samantha
So how is the watcher supposed to understand 
that the story is taking place in Japan if all 
names are French?

I don't understand why they do that. At least 
they could offer a choice of either dubbed or 
subbed on the same DVD (my Plastic Little DVD is 
EITHER Japanese with no subs or French dub). The 
French dub of Furuba is horrible, although the 
names remained untouched. The German dub of X 
the movie was so embarrassing I paused it every 
time my mother walked by the TV. 
So: why? Dubbing is expensive. It's annoying. 
It's destructive.

Plus, all the censorship crap is dangerous. This 
is how they breed narrow-minded idiots who point 
a finger at homo/bisexuality, sexuality in its 
whole, at being different, at nudity,... I'm 
very glad I didn't grow up in censorship and my 
mother always answered all my questions in a 
honest, factual way. 
I think dubs, especially dubs going hand in hand 
with CUTS, are contra-productive in education. 
Cutting means hiding. And any child in their 
right (or brainwashed?) mind would think that 
what is hidden is bad. So - once a classroom of 
brainwashed kids find out that one of them is 
gay, that poor kid will be so lonely - or even 
brutalized. For no reason other than preferring 
men to women (which I can perfectly understand).
The only inappropriate romantic attractions I 
can think of are pedophilia and zoophilia 
because that's rape.

I always thought that barking mutts should have 
their vocal cords removed, but maybe one should 
start at dubbers first.
