I think the passage of time plays a big part in 
online communities. Here, I'm a complete newbie 
who reads, lurks and occasionally posts but on 
other message boards I'm one of the 'veterans' so 
when someone posts something about the regulars 
on the board I'm always automatically included. 
It's a nice feeling which I think I've achieved 
through regular posting and just generally being 
around for a few years. And no, I've not been 
nice all the time. I hope that one day, if I 
continue to collect cels, I'll feel the same 
about visiting this board! :)
