erm.
I always hesitate to say this because of the
unyielding stereotypes people have of this
profession, almost NONE of which have actually
been true since sometime early in the 20th
century.
I could obfuscate the issue and say I'm an
associate professor. That actually IS true, and
in a year or two I'll be a full professor.
The thing I actually DO, though is be a catalog
librarian. I'm the only one at my university,
and thus am also the head of the catalog
department (a job that, in bigger places,
actually carries a fair amount of clout with
it.) What that means is that I create the
records in the online catalog for the stuff we
own, or for ejournals/websites/indexes what have
you that people can access from within it. It's
primarily database maintenance, really. (no, I
don't get to read all day; no, I don't shelve,
stamp, or check out books...)
Anyway, after grinding away at the catalog for
nearly a decade and getting tenured, I'm well
enough rewarded for my skills that I can afford
to play anime cel games :) |
