I got my cel framed at the same art store.. and
as you can see, very differently from his. It's
all a matter of personal taste though. What you
should be most concerned with is conservation.
Make SURE it has UV protectant glass, and
archival matting. Also, it should be museum
mounted (or any way using archival materials..
none of this "lets staple the cel to the
foamcore" crap.) nonononononono NO. If you go to
a framer, ask them each step they are going to do
to frame your cel. If you do it yourself, ask for
the best quality materials. Trust me on this. ;)
Here is my framed Hotohori and Boushin cel. The
picture is dark, and if you can't tell, i used
two mats, one a dark dark bluish-purple color,
and the other mat is a basic purple. The frame is
a dusty black painted wood (and kinda resembles
the rooftop of traditional chinese buildings ^^;)
Notice how the dark colors of the framing and
original background make the characters stand
out.
