I normally agree w/what you write Drac, but on
this topic I cannot say I completely agree with
you. In all honestly, why do you care if someone
comes across as snotty? Personally, when I read
the previous posts, especially Ly's, none of what
was written came across as insulting whatsoever.
As I read through Ly's comments and she (sorry if
I got your gender wrong, no offense, I just
happen to know many Asian girl who share the
name) did not come across as condescending.

I for one agree with BOTH you and Ly, you both
make valid points! For example, there are plenty
of immature collectors but there are also mature
collectors. We've all known many good
collectors, but on the same hand, it is safe to
say, most of us have also dealt with bad
collectors too. However, it seems her comments
focused on why she collected and where she is at
in "her life" in relation to continuing
collecting cels. What she says about quiting
does make sense, I know while I might not quit
collecting, I can see how it can occur to someone
say, chosing to start a family; but for those of
us who do continue, more power to each and
everyone one of us! ^_^

The original thread focused largely on what
reasons motivated people to leave, she simply
added her own experiences. I don't think what was
written was a declaration of maturity, a
damnation on the legitimacy of the hobby, or a
insult to anyone. What she and you both comment
on, are the realties (both good and bad) of cel
collecting. Also, I have to agree with Ly on the
competition aspect, it can get depressing after
awhile when you know certain dealers corner the
market for various series. I think it does get
discouraging since, while a collector can have the
funds to purchase expensive cels, it doesn't mean
they are readily available to the public. Alot of
big transactions never see the light to day in
the US, often we do get the leftovers. Just
another reality of the hobby.

Overall, while I might not understand the
contents of the previous posts entirely, but I
try my best to respect other people povs,
just like I respect your thoughts too. Oh and I
think if you want to quit, quit for whatever
reasons. You don't need to justify it, anymore
than you need to justify collecting to anyone. I
am my own jimmy cricket. ^_~
