Well, the people making the cels seem to have
decided that the value is in the neighborhood of
$180-$250 give or take a little. That's the price
tag I see on most post-production cels for sale.
However, I'm someone who agrees with your notion
of them being a bit like "mega-fancels". Yes,
they're made under the direction of the studio,
which is an important (and nice!) difference
from "normal" fancels. But they're not hanken,
and they're not production. . . To me it kind of
seems like they're a lost inbetween, trying to
fill in some kind of gap for fans -- and a gap
that the studios themselves were never interested
in before anyway. Post-production cels just seem
to lack "purpose". (I think that's the word I'm
looking for.)
I'm not carving in stone that I'll never ever buy
one, but I'm definitely not running out to get
any. I'm not even really interested enough to
look at post-production cel updates. If anything
from a CG show, I would rather have the original
gengas. Something that was actually used.
