I didn't mean to be vague. I was just trying to
shorten my reply.
I had the work done by SR Labs. I had them
separate a few of my LU cels from their sketches.
LU cels/sketches are notoriously hard to separate
safely (with no damage to cel or sketch). I have
yet to see anyone succeed.
When I say mixed results, I meant that there's
some good news and some bad news.
The bad news was that there was damage to the
sketches, though not as severe as if I had tried
to do it. I think they would do much better with
other series that do not have such a severe
sticking problem.
Another negative was that they were very backed
up, so it took a long time to get the work done.
They did let me know beforehand about it, but
sometimes I get a little impatient.
The good news was that the cels were not damaged.
The may be one exception in a small spot on one
cel, but I'm not sure if the problem wasn't
already there beforehand.
There was also a pleasant surprise. Although I
had only asked that the sketches be removed,
there must have been a misunderstanding and they
also separated the very stuck cel layers too. I
had always thought that stuck cel layers were
impossible to separate without damage. They did
an incredible job. I do not see any damage at all
and am very pleased with the results. I wish I
had known that they were so good at separating
cel layers earlier. I would have had them
separate the more loosely stuck layers on a
couple of my larger cels before I had them
framed. I am thinking about asking them to
separate an AS cel with more moderately stuck
layers, since it has some white mineralization
starting to form in one of the air pockets.
Anyways, that's what I meant by mixed results. |
