I do agree with your views chipn, I dont really
belive in image theft, and whenever anyone uses
any of my images for any purpose I dont mind and
I can even say that I feel rather complimented.
Im not saying I condone people using cel scans
to make fakes and sell them off... but Im not on
a mission to change the world... people will
seal and con if I have my images up or not, so
why be bothered with the extra hassle.
Of course I myself wouldnt want to be sold a
fake cel, but to that end I take every
precaution possible. I think its rather naive
for me to think that I will not be sold a fake
cel because some collectors (even if it was all
collcetors) didnt show their cels to anyone.
Quite the contrary, I belive that showing your
cels online is the best way to prevent people
from purchasing fake cels, as it allows the
potential victim to contact you, the owner of
real cel, enquire about the cel. I have done
this before and with great success ^_^ I think
this is a point that a lot of the people who
choose not to show their cels because they do
not want them made into fakes and sold of to
unsuspecting victims, should ponder about.
Overall buying/encountering fake cels is
something we have to live with especially in his
hobby where there are no 100% sure ways to check
the authencity of a cel (just like with any
other hobby of this sort: art, coin collecting,
stamp collecting ect ect). I think, however that
we are all aware of such risks and accept them
as part of the deal of cel collecting.
