I'm certainly not pissed at your for having a
completely different view of the situation from
me ^^ I've had people use cropped versions of my
cels on their image galleries, and as their
avatars, and frankly that kind of image
appropriation doesn't really bother me. It would
be polite if they asked, but very few people do
so and I'm not out to change the world.
My real problem is when people create fancels
from good scans without markings to distinguish
them as fancels - I've discovered two cels of a
character, one an extremely good copy and the
other the original. The problem? I don't know
which is which! They changed hands so many times
over the years that it's almost impossible to
tell, and no one remembered anymore. For this
reason I discourage copies being made of my cels
with stamping and smaller image sizes, as well
as cropping off paint edges. I don't want
someone to be staring at two cels
going ... "which is the original?" The original
creator may have been nice and said it was a
copy, but who knows what future owners will say
or do? That's just my piece, based on a personal
experience.
That's my viewpoint, and I'm happy to hold it
peacefully in this community ^^ |
