Ok, this is cel related, so please dont flame me
k? ;)
I have had one of the worst experences with the
USPS this month. I ordered some Tenchi cels from
Taro a week ago, and I had never sent an IPMO
before (Im new to collecting cels). So, I went to
my local post office and got the IPMO, and took
it home to fill it out. When I went to send it
(It was in a standard letter envelope) the guy
behind the counter said that it was going to cost
$7.60 to mail it to Japan. This seemed a little
expensive to me, but I just figured that since it
was going overseas, it must cost a lot.
As the guy is finishing up my transaction at the
counter, I ask him how long it should take to get
there. He said 'about 3 to 4 weeks.' WHAT!?!? 3
to 4 WEEKS? For $7.60!?!? That was not going to
work, so I asked what is the next fastest
shipping method. He said 2 day air, and I could
see dollar signs light up in his eyes...($$) He
then rings me up for 2 day air, (remember, this
is simply an IPMO I'm sending) and the shipping
total comes to $42.53.... I about hit the
celing...
So I swallowed hard and paid the evil man. Now we
get to the part that REALLY makes me mad... I
ordered another cel from a dealer in Japan 3 days
later, and went to send my IPMO, but this time, I
went to a different post office. And guess what?
the lady behind the counter said that it would
only cost $4.30 to get it to Japan IN ONLY 1
WEEK..... *Mike hits celing again*
And another interesting tid-bit of info you might
find interesting: When I recieved my order from
Taro, (Which was shipped EMS) I noticed that it
took only 2 days to reach me here in the US. And
the shipping cost was 11 dollars. Being curious,
I asked a postal worker how much it would cost me
to send this exact same package right back to the
sender, in only 2 days. After weighing the
package, she responded, '$37.89'......
So yes, I now have proof that the USPS is not
only a rip-off, they are also slow and ignoant as
well.
Ok, I just thought that I would share this with
you all.
