Mangaya seems to have the same philosophy as you.
Is money really the true way to measure how much someone
really wants a cel? I could think of several other ways that
would demonstrate it more. Have them write an essay... Ask
them why they like a cel... These would be quite strange ways
to sell cels...
(What would you do for a Klondike Bar?)
When it all comes down to it, there really isn't
any true way to tell who would appreciate a cel the most--
trying to get to know your customers true motives and desires
is a bit impractical.
And saying that "If you're willing to pay the most, then you
must want it the most since you're sacrificing so much money" is
nothing but an excuse to try to justify asking a high price.
Let's say someone is rich... They have tons of money
to spend freely. A few hundred dollars means nothing to them--
and they go around buying stuff up, and when they no longer
like it, they just throw it away... Now do you think that
this type of person wanted the item the most? (Sorry to use
such an extreme example, but do you get the point?)
Is evil-bay good? No... Auctions lead to higher prices
in the market... People see auctions, and prices get quoted
when considering selling other cels, and hence prices rise.
We all know what the major auctions did for Disney cels, now
do we want that to happen to anime cels? |
