It is unfortunate that the hobby of cel
collecting is irretrivably (sp?) connected to
money. I think there is little that can be done
to avoid these types of flame wars, sadly,
because money is involved. I don't like to
discuss money and cels (and to quote a friend --
hope you don't mind ^_~ -- "money is the least
interesting thing about cels" -- I agree with
this statement.) Well, except for the prices gdpj
spent on his cels (*laugh*).
However, to discuss the way the market goes up
and down is a valid topic. I find it informative
when I have to "make an offer on a cel" or if I'm
debating a purchase.
And if I don't like the way a seller does
business (and I'm =not= referring to anybody in
particular), then I don't do business with them.
But if anybody asks me my opinion, then I'm
honest about what I like or dislike about them. I
wish more people would follow this -- I swear,
there should be a waiting period (or cooling down
period) for responding to flames.
From my experience in cel collecting, people have
=long= memories and past grievances have an icky
way of surfacing in these discussions. I'm truly
sorry for the damage done to reputations and
would hope that people would put things into
perspective as you've so eloquently stated in
your post.
Ah well, just my late night thoughts.
