Ok, this message is really in response to previous post but
since Melissa posted (very cute cel -- dare I say "kaw.." oh
never mind).

Let's be a little more realistic about who controls cel
prices. If the person who was outbid only to find that they
must buy the cel (because of an irresponsibility of the
current high bidder) let's not forget that all bidders put
in what they want to pay for the cel. Don't put in bids that
you would not honor regardless of the outcome of the auction
and complain that the irresponsible bidder upped the price.
If you want to pay X for a cel, that is part of determining
the price of the cel regardless of what happens next. If you
don't think the cel is worth it, why would you bid so high
in the first place? Has the auction become a personal war?

I sympathize with those who find that they could have gotten
a cel for much cheaper when the high bidder backs out but
if you wanted the cel and was willing to pay for it, then
at least you got it. It's rough to miss a bargain and it's
too easy to blame somebody else for how high you would be
willing to pay for something.

Melissa is a case where she wanted a cel badly and paid what
she was willing to pay. What's wrong with that? These prices
fluctuate through a =combination= of buyers and sellers
and it's very difficult to "blame" market fluctuations on
one or two individuals. All come together to create market
price.

Boy, I'm glad I worked so hard in my Intro. to Econ class
many years ago,

Wendy
