Well, my cheepie Mustek used to lock up frequently in the middle of a scan. When it did that, the twain driver refused to see the scanner again until the system was rebooted! Grrr! I almost threw the scanner away, but fortunately I bought a CDR drive with an Adaptec SCSI controller. Once I tossed the cheepie interface card that came with the scanner, and plugged the Mustek into the Adaptec card, my lockup problems vanished. ... But the scanner is still dumb and slow. If I could only stop buying cels for a little while, I could replace the Mustek with a good one. I want to stop, but I just can't help myself! ^_^ ... As for not having an off switch, don't worry about it. According to the Mustek web site, the light will last longer than the rest of the scanner. But it may save a few pennies of electricity each month if you unplug it when not in use. |
