Like any system, it has its ups and its downs. On the plus side, you have a chance at some things that would have been gone by the time you got there, assuming you get there late. On the minus side, lottery systems make it very difficult to plan your cel spending dollars, as extra time is needed on the part of the dealer holding the lottery before everything can be sorted out and you can be contacted to let you know what you won. Also on the minus side is that if you come along and see something really neat that you just have to have, chances are a lot of other people will think the same thing. . . Frankly, the better the cel, the less chance you have of getting it. Myself, I would rather see dealers stick mostly with the first come, first serve method of sales. Yes, I miss out on some things - but for each thing I miss out on, there is another time that I am the first one there. It all evens out in the end. After that, I would rather see cels up for auction than in a lottery system. . . Sorry, everyone (because I know the general feeling on this forum towards auctions), but that's just my always so humble opinion. I think that lotteries are a bit of fun once in a while, but overall are one of the least desireable ways to sell cels. One interesting thing I see once in a *great* while is a dealer that holds an e-mail "silent auction". (I actually have a HRC pin dealer that I see doing this the most, but I've seen cel dealers use this method too.) In this case, the dealer shows the cel and accepts bids for the cel - WITHOUT EVER POSTING WHAT ANYONE'S HIGH BID IS. At the end of the auction, the high bid is revealed (not necessarily with the name of the high bidder) and the high bidder is contacted. Obviously, there are little nitpicky changes to the details of this depending on who is running it, but you get the idea. ^_^ Just my two little pennies. . . ^_- Your milage may vary. ^_^ Many Sharp Smiles, --Drac |
