That's precisely what I meant, Scot. It is a community of
cel collectors which is sometimes/not always exclusive of
other "fan" communities. 

And you are right, too, that a nicer attempt at discussion
is imperative rather than flying off the handle when 
the etiquettes of those communities collide. 

If someone wants to protect those images then that person
should mark them,as you have suggested, but in my future
cel gallery, I understand that someone will take those 
images without permission. 

As for your other points about the value of the cel being
reproduced, I could write a lot (I'm an academic and this
issue fascinates me -- I might write a paper from all this
discussion but for now, see Walter Benjamin's "The Age of
Art in Mechanical Reproduction" which was printed 50
years ago. This is not a new issue)
