> Do you find it wrong to sell a mismatch background
Most of the cels with backgrounds that I sell come with the
two components either stapled or firmly taped together and
usually I have no way of knowing wheather the background is
original or not. Though on occasion I will remember the scene
that the cel came from, but since this is how I got the cel, I
don't want to damage it by attempting to take the setup appart.

Most definately! I want my customers to know what they are
getting so that they are happy when they receive their cels.
There are many cel dealers out there that are too lazy
to cut open the bag that the cels came in and check the condition
of the cel/pencil sketch. Then there are those that just don't
want to bother with any kind of description. And lastly there
are those which are genuinly dishonest and are trying to hide the
flaws of the cels just to make the sale.
