" There is NO valid reason to firmly refuse
shipping overseas using normal postal services. "
For me there is. I put delivery confirmation on
every single cel / package that goes out. I
don't charge for it, for my peace of mind .45/.55
is worth it. I can go online (so can the buyer)
and see where the package is & when it was
delivered.
I put insurance on every package. I do charge
for this & for the US it starts at 1.30$, which
is reasonable.
For my /personal/ sales I will sometimes ship
other ways if the buyer really insists on it. I
give this little disclaimer saying that by
requesting this shipping method they understand
that if their package gets lost/damaged in
transit I am not responsible & I will not be able
to refund their money.
However, after 10 sales went bad on eBay because
of non-insured packages (and I pack very well in
my opinion) I decided everything goes out
insured. Period.
I have been to the post office enough times to
know that as of right now, there is NO tracking
system for packages other than EMS. I pay EMS
all the time for Japan. Some sellers offer SAL
but I have never used it. You can insure air
mail (and I assume global priority) but there is
no way to track it. It then becomes a "I
said/you said" situation on whether I actually
mailed a cel if it gets lost. I keep the
receipt, but my receipts only list countries, not
zip codes / province codes. I have no viable
proof that I sent the cel to them, not just a box
of cookies to my aunt Grizelda who happens to
live in the same country.
