OK, is it just me, or... (Fri Sep 20 00:37:34 2002 )

Do international eBay users no longer read the
part of the auction that says "will only ship
to US"???

Don't get me wrong... if someone writes me ahead
of time (aka before the auction ends) and says
"Hey, I live in this country, but I want to buy
this cel, can you ship here" etc I'll try to work
something out with them...

But lately (even though it says in my auctions
"only ship to USA") a LOT of the bidders are from
other countries...

This wouldn't even be a problem if it weren't such
a hassle to accept payments from other countries
(if you're just a small seller and not a store,
etc)... Paypal charges more, a lot of countries
don't do international postal money orders (and
the banks charge and arm and a leg for any other
type). BUT half the time the buyer refuses to pay
the shipping cost! I had one bidder last night,
after he won the auction and wrote me wanting
to know the shipping to his country, try to make
a deal as to HOW MUCH of the shipping he was
going to pay. No, not dealing on the cel prices
(which were set anyway as they were auctioned)...
but how much of the shipping cost he WANTED to pay
and how much he wanted ME to pay.

Maybe I just have nothing better to do than let
this rub me the wrong way today... but I've heard
the same story from other eBay sellers (about
international customers bidding even though the
auction says "US shipping only" and then not
paying for the actual shipping costs). I stopped
wanting to ship internationally because it was
such a pain finding out the shipping costs
and then accepting a payment is a headache in
itself... but when the customer thinks he can
wheel and deal about making YOU pay for the
shipping too (when you said in the first place
you wouldn't ship outside of the USA)????

Has anyone else had this problem lately? I
hate complaining on this board about eBay stuff,
but thought you guys (since I know a lot of you
buy and sell on eBay as well) may have input on
how to handle these people (since they obviously
don't read the auction shipping description)...

(sigh) I need a nap... -_-
