Otakus like what E-N-J described are exactly the
ppl we all want to sell our collections to, ppl
willing and capable of shelling out big bucks.
And what is wrong with selling a entire
collection that took years to amass if the owner
wishes to do so? =P
But seriously though, imo yes it seems there ARE
those who are too serious when it comes to
collecting. Yes, it is possible to get addicted
to any hobby. But neglecting or delibrately
sacrificing a necessity such as food, rent,
health care is imo just plain asinine.
I don't know if it has anything to do with age,
but I do wonder if there is a correlation between
cel collectors quiting and attempting to sell off
the majority of their cels b/c their financial
priorities change as they grow older and possible
raise a family. In situations like that, I can
understand how cel collecting as a whole can be
regarded as a waste of money. Personally, I don't
consider ppl who do quit as flakes or are anyless
serious collectors than those who spend 1k a
month on cels.
Afterall we all have different financial
backgrounds/priorities and we really shouldn't be
condemned or condemning based on our decision to
quit and leave the hobby entirely, if we were so
inclined.
