There is obviously a lot of factors that play into
this question and if my guess is correct, you are
probably referring to a certain "someone" that has
been in the news as of late about stolen items.

For one thing you must take into consideration, if
they were being accused of stealing and currently
being sued (assuming yoiu are referring to that
certain someone), they would not just turn around
and list the stolen items for sale when the owners
request that they return them or have to pay a
heafty fee.  So unless the owners can publically
display some evidence, I would seriously doubt
that the cel(s) in question was stolen.

Me, personally, if I KNOW for a fact that the item
was stolen, I would never buy it as it would
sooner or later, come back and bite me in the
butt, hence the phrase "What goes around, comes
around".
But, if you don't know that it was stolen, then
"ignorance is bliss".
