Let's say...
I own 2 cels and one third cel from the same
seller I gave to my friend (free Nuriko close-up,
MUAHAHA!).
That seller is rumoured to steal. I didn't know
when I bought the cels. Maybe they don't even
steal.
BUT I don't care about things that a) I don't
know in advance and b) can't be helped. MEANING,
I very much love my TV Tasuki and my Nuriko/Miaka
pan and Katrin loves her OVA Nuriko as well.
If now Pierrot hops in and says, "Return those
cels!" I will say, "By all honest respect, kiss
my rear and fornicate under command of the king
yourself." Why?
1. I bought them all innocently from just another
dealer like any cel collector at any dealer.
Stolen cels don't wear it on their face.
2. I spent loads of money. Who refund me?
3. I'm attached to these cels.
4. Watch and lock your damned studio, man.
Security's up to you.
5. If they were stolen I woulda been cheated
myself. HEY, first cheat me, then screw me out of
it completely? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO way in hell.
6. Proof them stolen. Otherwise, anyone could
come, "I'm from Studio (name) and I want my cels
back!" Evilminion, prepare for my coming as a JC
Staff member to collect your "stolen" Slayers
cels ;)
Generally, I think people are responsible for
their own security, be it studios, be it
privates. Being too stupid to protect yourself
and hence practically telling thieves to come
marching in, means, don't complain afterwards.
I'm talking insurance here. They'd perhaps refund
you if you were taking enough care of YOUR OWN
DAMN DUTIES of protecting your studio/cels.
I am NOT saying, it's right to steal. Not at all.
But it's also pretty pathetic to come re-claiming
the cels afterwards. Especially if the person
you're complaining to, is completely clueless.
I understand Toei being very very angry (I'd be
too) but if Mandarake really didn't know, then
the only one to sue is the guy who stole from
Toei and sold to Mandarake. Sueing Mandarake is
easier as you don't have to search for them,
still, it's not just.
Meep
