No offense Drac but I completely disagree with
your comment that, "...I absolutely **DO NOT**
believe that someone wants something more simply
because they're willing to pay more for it.
People can be willing to pay more for something
for no other reason than they're rolling in more
money than they know what to do with. End of
line.", that is a gross generalization and does
not hold true for all collectors. Some collectors
can and will go the distance and sometimes get
into a bidding war and/or offer a higher valued
item in trade (if necessary) to secure a "item"
i.e. cel, hanken or original sketch that they
feel is worth the high price. IMO if an item is
truly worth a kidney to you and you are willing
to sell yours for that item, I would definitely
say that individual who's willing to go to these
extremes WANTS the item more than anyone else
(especially if no one else can match the offer).
True, you as well as other people might not "pay"
that much and the market itself might not ever
see that much again for the same item, but just
b/c you can and do spend a large amount of money
does NOT mean the individual is rolling in more
money than they know what to do with. I for one
don't qualify your classification in terms of
wealth, but I and many of my friends do spend
considerable amount of cash on items, almost
always well beyond what the market demands. Just
my ten cents... take it or leave it. |
