I think it might be a different degree with 
different guys, but I got into an argument with 
some male anime fans in IRC over why they think 
belldandy is the perfect woman... and it's 
because she does everything for her man.  They 
didn't really care that she wasn't sexually 
involved with keiichi(sp) just that she cooked, 
cleaned, got him stuff, did whatever he wanted, 
etc.  That's practically the DEFINITION of an 
oedipus complex. 

To this day I won't speak to most male anime fans 
in IRC when I'm hunting for the newest fansubs. 
I'm not accusing anyone of it in here, because I 
understand belldandy has other admiral attributes 
(like being one of the only female anime 
characters that doesn't turn into a monster when 
angry... but personally I just think that makes 
her a doormat) but... Damn!
