Yann, I wondered about that Canadian newspaper 
myself, and some of the odd statements in it.  
Take this into account:

This little article was not written for a 
Canadian newspaper, and it was not written 
recently.  It was a speech written by a radio 
reporter named Gordon Sinclair, directly after 
the Vietnam war, in June of 1973.  He died in 
1984.  I believe you can download a copy of the 
speech at

(BTW, the site is down right at this moment).
