But I think you have an equal risk when using 
credit cards on secure US sites too. The way my 
husband and I combat that is that *only* my card 
number is sent for web/internet purchases. My 
card is an AT&T Universal card and they have an 
excellent online site where you can check your 
unbilled charges - on a daily basis if you want! 
If anything strange showed up, I would know less 
than 12 hours after the transaction and could do 
something about it right away.

Also, AT&T Universal will call me if they see 
*anything* out of the ordinary. I've been called 
a couple times by them to confirm charges - and 
every time the charges have been unusual, but 
legitamate. It's still nice to know that they've 
got something watching the spending patterns.

Not completely safe, but I like it. The only 
downer is that this card has a *high* interest 
rate, so you wouldn't want to carry a balance on 
one. But I just always pay it off every month, so 
that doesn't matter to me. . .
