have you checked the bidder's feedback?  have 
they made some nutty bids on other items in the 
past and followed through with them?  I know of a 
couple of eBayers off the top of my head that 
have a history of  bidding nutty... and following 
through with the transaction.  (some that bid in 
excess of thousands! ^^;;;)

If they have low (or NO) feedback, maybe you 
should consider cancelling their bids.  When I 
put up auctions, I usually warn those with little 
or no feedback that their bids *MAY* be cancelled 
if they deem suspicious.
