Firstly, I don't condone anon postings. ^_^
Secondly, I agree with the basic premise of
the original reply - copying something that is in
someone else's gallery is icky. Why? Because the
potential for a great grievance is right there!
It's just an honor code for copier fancel artists
to maintain (i.e. not sell their copied work), but
if you think everyone has the same honor code..
Then again, I also understand that newbie artists
often copy to practice (not that I do that
myself)...
I suppose my gripe is that copied fancels
must be clearly marked. Fancels should be clearly
marked *on* the image, under the paint and over
lines, not off to a corner or small. If you
intend to post a big image, it's better to
digitally watermark it, too. Am I being paranoid?
You're naive until something happens, and then you
realize there's nothing you can really do about
it. Remember the old Nausicaa cel scam? Well, I'm
sure the fancel artist who copied those cels had
no idea that they were being fraudulently
auctioned off, but even after the rest of us found
out, it only takes ONE buyer who has no clue to
pay the guy a few hundred bucks that will
disappear with him. If people don't care about
being party to this sort of thing as fancel
artists ... Well, more power to them - and the
rest of us.
