Yipes! This is a pretty hot topic! I thought I
had some pretty good advice for Evilminion --
both on how to sell quickly and how to sell for a
profit. I tried to make it clear that I was
responding to but not necessarily addressing
EvilMinion or Demona directly. But I guess the
more controversial parts took precedence ^_^;

"How? By telling Taro, Yann, Melissa, Anime
Chaos,
Nichibei and the rest what prices to put on their
cels? Or telling people who have cels they don't
want anymore not to want the same price
that "dealers" are getting for the same cels."

I tell those dealers that I don't want to pay
certain prices by not buying those cels from
them. I do the same with any seller. As I told
evilminion I don't see any problem with setting
prices comparable to what's on a dealer's site.

As for your comment about why evilminion and
Demona are open for attack for their selling
practices and others are not, please remember
that this isn't the only cel forum around nor is
this the only way of communication (and search
the cels forum archive for some particularly
lovely lambasts against a lot of people -- then
again, maybe it's best to leave that alone!).
Personally,I think it's extremely bad form/taste
to attack someone for their practices in a public
forum -- unless it's a flat out scam. Those
personal and heated comments are best saved for
private correspondence and more intimate
discussions. Maybe I went out on a limb to say
that people would agree with me. (*shrug*) There
really isn't a conspiracy of collectors (although
I've always wanted to be part of a conspiracy
*laugh*). And I was only describing what I see as
a trend not trying to force somebody to "be good
and here's a cookie." I don't like it when I see
people reselling a cel at an astronomically high
price that I had access to -- whether from a
dealer or from a collector. And I was hoping to
show (which seems to be missing from your post so
I'll reiterate it) that by not looking for the
quick buck will ultimately help the seller,
himself. If a cel is sold at five times what was
paid, could the seller have bought the cel at
that price? Well, then, he or she might be paying
that price for a character or series in the
future.

That's really my main point -- help yourself by
helping others. I wasn't shaking my finger to say
"you can't do this" and I think I offered a lot
of alternatives. I'm just saying that "some
people may not like it and might respond this
way." (I'm actually really sorry that this thread
keeps happening to evilminion because I don't see
his (or her?) situation like this at all) In my
experience, it's best not to alienate people
because I rely a lot on others in this community
-- not just in the crass buy/sell world but in
advice, friendship, support, etc. I'd hope that
everybody could find that.

Am I making sense?

Wendy
