Ok, everybody calm down a bit before we start a
little war here ^_^;;
I wanted to reply to you earlier evilminion
(whose minion are you? *grin*) and make some
suggestions.
First: getting a fair price I think is perfectly
fine. I don't think anybody would argue with
that. If you wanted to get some suggestions on
pricing, you might want to contact those people
who seem to have a lot of those similar cels in
their galleries. I've done this plenty of times
and I've found most are very forthcoming in their
advice. I'd offer to help but I know nothing
about Tenchi or Ranma cels and don't keep an eye
out on the pricing close enough to say anything
useful. And you could also look at all the dealer
sites and see what they offer for similar cels.
Keep in mind that since you have so many cels
from a set -- often of the same character -- the
prices probably can't be that terribly high since
there will be a temporary glut of those cels on
the market.
Second: the question of reselling which is a hot
topic here. And perhaps this is to answer
CrzyDemona's statement -- and I'm not necessarily
speaking for oion since she probably will answer
for herself -- but reselling and hoping for a
higher price changes the market. It's the hope of
collectors, like myself, that we can stop the
sometimes inevitable inflating of cel prices. For
that reason, we would ideally want (and hopefully
practice ourselves) to sell at cost unless the
market has wildly fluctuated since we bought the
cels. That way, we don't inflate the prices for a
series we like to collect. It's very self-
interested but one I point out to both of you
that the practice of selling cels to buy more
cels will possibly lead to you buying higher
priced cels of that series in the future (and
therefore creating a very bad cycle for everybody
involved).
But of course you can do anything you want with
your cels. Remember though that some people won't
buy from you because of the constant reselling.
Again, evilminion, this isn't directed toward you
and I fully support the idea of selling off part
of a set if you only wanted one or two. If you
want to recoup your money =quickly=, then take
oion's advice and price them based on what you
paid (including the extra fees/shipping for
dealing with Japan). If you want to make some
money on the deal then you are probably going to
have to sit on them for a while and parcel them
out on ebay a bit at a time --even then, you
might not make a lot.
I'm not even going to touch the difference
between a dealer and a reseller right now. This
message is WAY too long for that discussion.
