I don't understand... Something is at $50 and I
bid $150 as maximum I am willing to pay. If someone
come at the last seconds and bid $120, I will still
win the auction.

Even if the person come and bid more than my maximum,
it won't be by one or 2 dollars usualy. Perhaps he
will bid $160. Then what ? I am willing to pay more
than that ? If that's the case, that mean I simply
didn't bid the maximum I was willing to pay.

Even if he bid only one dollars more than you. What
you do ? you bid one more dollar than him ? If he
has the same reasoning as yourself, he will then
bid one more dollars... and so on. Where do you
stop ?!? You have to put yourself an absolute
maximum. So simply bid it directly from the start.

In practice it doesn't change any thing. It's just
all in your head... :)

Cheers,
Yann Stettler
