dealer I bought from, so he probably knows better 
than I.( Just started collecting again, as life 
decided to rear its head and crush me with bills 
for a few years.)

Most likely the hobby is dealing with the fact 
that most series coming out are CG, rather than 
cel based, so there is no influx of new cels. The 
collecters that have been either see the prices 
of the cels they collect rise beyond thier means, 
or the selection thin greatly. With less motive 
to collect, interest wanes. People get out of the 
hobby.
