Anyone think cel collecting is getting impersonal? (Sun May 19 23:02:45 2002 )

This is a rant of sorts, so whoever doesn't want
to read complaints, I'd stop here.

Gone yet?

Okay, your choice. First, let me tell you why I first started collecting: I was learning Japanese and I thought it would be a good way to exchange notes with people in Japan. If you notice the Japanese web pages "How to order" forms, a lot of them tell you to list comments/requests. I took this as a place to write things "How is the weather?" type questions like "What is popular in Japan nowadays?". And I liked it when I got emails back with "How are you?" etc. Hey, I'm very happy with some of the dealers I've chatted with.

So, say I ordering from a personal collector who happens to be selling to buy a car/house/dream cel, I try to wish them luck with their purchase. When I get my cel I try to write to tell them I got them and I'm sorry they had to part with one of their cels, but hope they will be happy with their new purchase. Don't people normally enjoy getting emails with little notes at the end?

This next part only applies to certain sellers. I don't want anyone I have dealt with to feel insulted. There are many nice sellers out there. It's just some that I have recently dealth with that me wonder what their priorities are. What irks me is certain personal collectors who are verging on or crossed the line into dealers seem to not like little notes.I just get my order confirmation, pay, get the cels. Did I write any emails after my original order? Nope. Doesn't seem like this seller wants any extraneous emails.Do I get any emails other than my order confirmation? Nope. I don't get emails to a question I ask when I order, or when payment is received, or when the cels are shipped. Hey, even an automated email system reassures me more than nothing..

So, here's my question. Who likes personal emails? Some websites might as well say on them "Don't talk to me, just order. I'm not going to bother replying to answer any questions" Don't you think that a seller should at the minimum offer to provide extra info like cel sequence, detail on the condition of the cel if requested. Afterall, I am paying them. I'm not asking for that much am I? At least it is cel related. I didn't ask about the weather.

Has anyone else had this problem. Or maybe it's just my problem. Sorry to complain. If you want to flame me, go ahead, but you are going to have to look for my email address. (I'm not going to make it that easy.)
