Okay, a friend of mine and I were talking about
this a couple of days ago. I know a few others
who have been in this situation too, so Im
wondering..whatcha do?
Lets say someone has a cel you want more than
anything. A real dreamcel. And, you've recieved
word via the grapevine (or just a hunch) that the
person who has this cel just might part with it
for the right amt of money. You know it's going
to be high though. Lets say you have something
(s) you could sell to make up this cash to offer
for your dreamcel. BUT...it's not a sure thing
your offer will be accepted, and you dont want to
sell your other beloved cels on just a lark.
What do you do? Do you:
a) Ask the dealer or collector if they'd part
with the cel for X amt of cash, but, tell them
you dont have the cash on hand. That you could
get the cash very quickly though. You face the
risk of making the seller angry with this as they
make think ill of you, or not trust you are
serious. But you forgo the risk of selling your
other cel(s) and not gaining anything from it if
they say no.
b) Take it all on faith. Sell your cel(s) and
have the cash ready in hand, then make the
offer? If the person says yes, ooohhh happy
day! But if they say no...you've lost other cels
that you wouldnt have parted with had you known
you'd get a "no" answer.
What do you do? Im uber curious, as I've been
talking about this subject a lot with various
collectors and they're stumped as well :) Id love
to hear what dealers think of this topic, as it's
quite relevant at this point. All dealers have
dreamcels of ours that I know we've all thought
about offering on. |
