That is sad news but I'm glad that you were there 
for them. I've always thought that how you judge 
a society should be based upon how that society 
treats its weakest members -- and yes, that 
includes animals in my mind and heart.

Both of my cats were starving strays too (one of 
which was obviously dumped in a national park).
