This type thing is my worst nightmare.
This is the reason I posted before asking if
there was anything I could do about fancel
artists like Forkysanime who make COPIES of
existing cels to sell on EBay.
Even though Forky writes on her auctions that
they are copies, what's to stop the person who
buys it from throwing a sequence number on the
top and claiming it's the original?
For all the people who said this wouldn't
happen... guess what? It just did.
I could care less if someone wants to make a
fancel of my cel for their own personal
collection or to practice their skills or
whatever. I do however get upset when I see these
cels on auction. Even with a signature on the
cel, most of the time I bet it can be removed.
Perhaps after seeing this sort of scam created to
rip off collectors, fancel artists will start
showing a bit more responibility regarding their
wares. I am glad the fan artist came here to let
us they know made it. However if they weren't
making these copies and selling them this problem
would never had arisen.
I'm sorry to sound harsh. I rarely post and when
I do I prefer it not to be on a contraversial
subject. But for all the people who say the
owners of production cels have no rights and
should stop being such babies about it, look at
what can come of it.
