Yep, you all heard my story above, and I
definitely blame Phil. ;P Sometimes, the big
goofy guys ARE the most evil.
The nice cel lady in Atlanta, proprieter of "One
of A Kind Cartoon Art", was forced to abandon her
business in the early 90's due to encroaching
disability caused by an unspecified medical
condition. One of her relatives made an abortive
attempt to continue the business, then sold off
her inventory in batch lots to other animation
dealers. I found out about this several years
later when I encountered a guy at GenCon selling
Animalympics cels that I distinctly
remembered seeing in her stock.
She was an absolute sweetheart, and had the most
reasonable prices I've ever seen. I still regret
not picking up a Fantasia production cel
that would have emptied my bank account to the
last penny, but which I've since realized was
priced at about 1/3 of what it would have cost
anywhere else.
Ah, well, hindsight is 20/20. I do miss her,
though -- ordering cels from her was half about
the cel and half about getting to chat with her on
the phone and hear the story behind how she got it
in the first place. ^_^ |
