I am not bashing AL or Rick. If you read
paragraphs 2, 3, and 4 of my last post you can
see that.
I understand legal notices. Warnings can be
helpful if worded correctly. But as it stands it
is a "us verses them" argument. But who are they?
You say:
"Also, it's
asinine and completely unrealistic for AL to
expend time and money to hunt down thieves within
foreign studios and other participants in stolen
VHD property. "
AL says:
"Please uphold the law by refusing to buy any
unofficial or stolen D cels. We are currently
taking legal action in the courts and do not want
any of our customers and fans to be hurt or
affected in any way! "
Since when is going to court and hiring attorneys
free? Are they filing actions against their own
suppliers? The production company? No? Then let
me ask you since you seem very informed on the
matter, who are they (AL) hunting down? Or is it
just one big bluff to inform people from
purchasing non-labeled VHD cels in the USA and
Europe? Although, they had to be
originally "stolen" in Japan.
Also, the whole issue with branding things
as "stolen" is not a good thing. "Lost" would be
much more appropriate in this instance, since the
product was being released from the very
producers or creators of the product. But, if
indeed the product is stolen, then "hon" who are
the thieves?
