I've been meaning to ask this, and just got a
memory jog with the Nazca cel I posted up above a
couple of lines from here.
When you have a cel with an original background,
what's the general preference when scanning the
cel for display/gallery? Do you crop in to what
would have been shown on the actual screen
capture, or include the "fringes" of the cel
and/or even the background to the very edges?
I seem to have been doing it both ways. Some
cels seem to be better cropped to eliminate any
and all "ending" lines and incomplete painted
areas. But others seem to cry out to be
displayed in all their uncropped-ness, especially
when the background is glorious or just plain
interesting!
And for cels without backgrounds - crop out all
edges or not?

experiment in loading two pix for one message!) |
