Not really, I only do reproductions when someone
specifically asks for them these days, and then I
usually improve them a bit...
Economically though, fancels are an inferior good
and a subsitute for real cels; that means that
fancels are a cheap alternative that people who
can't afford the real thing use, but will usually
abandon when they make enough to get the real
cels.
If fancels were valued equally, it would bring
the market price down on the more rare and in
demand series, which at least half the people in
here would probably consider is a good thing
because people bitch about the skyrocketing
prices an awful lot. So I suppose it depends on
whether you're in it for the cels or in it for
the profit.
Of course, fancels really aren't valued equally,
so it doesn't hurt the market much, except when
some get used in not-so-honest ways.
...as for the signing, I usually just sign in the
same place so the sig would be covered up if
anyone wanted to mat it (I have the most un-
eloquent signature in the world, my handwriting's
horrible) so half the time it's under the paint,
half the time it isn't. But I guess I'll start
moving it now so it's always under the paint.
I'm adding some other safeguards as well that
won't be able to be changed without ripping out a
portion of the cel too. |
