Though I'm not opposed to dubbed material (I
watch dubbed hong kong movies all the time), I've
found that dubbed anime just falls short of the
mark far too often. There are some series where
the seiyuu really defines the personality of the
character. Watching slayers without Megumi's
voice in there just doesn't seem right for some
reason.
The personality that the seiyuu put into their
character's voices often times just can't be
translated over to an English voice. When I flip
over to the English soundtracks sometimes the
voices just don't seem to match up with the
characters.
One thing that really burns me though is how
domestic companies now are taking the liberty of
either removing material or re-arranging the
video continuity to their tastes. Though I love
series like Lost Universe and Nadesico, I refuse
to buy the domestic release because of all the
changes the US licensor made to em. I'll just
buy the import dvd's or ld's as I find em. The
language en isn't all that hard to watch em raw.
