Wow... you pick the one day I happen to run
errands to light up the forum. Heeheeee!
Here's the deal.
"Starbreaker" is a Japanese cel dealer. He runs a
lot of auctions on Yahoo Japan, in addition to
selling directly to collectors and resellers both
overseas and (in a few long-standing cases) here
in the States. He's also a mighty cool guy, but
that's not important here. *grin*
For quite some time, he's been running silent
auctions specifically for his repeat customer
base, practically all of whom are Japanese. Once
again, a bare handful of dealers and major buyers
here in the States have had the opportunity to
participate -- but only a few, since Starbreaker
speaks very little English and has to either use a
translation program or have a friend translate all
correspondence for him, which is time-consuming
and often frustrating.
But then he and Keigo had an idea. Why not
use Celga to open the silent auctions to American
COLLECTORS as well? By going through Keigo's
established service, the silent auction could be
publicized here in North America, as well as to
our European and other overseas customers. Since
the items that Celga's bidders won could be
shipped in bulk to Keigo, there would be no bank
transfer or inside-Japan shipping fee.
It was a great idea for all parties involved,
really. :) For the price of the usual Celga
markup, Keigo would provide all the usual Celga
services -- in short, communication between bidder
and seller, collection and transfer of money
(including the convenient option to pay via
PayPal), packing and package shipping to the
States, and so on. And Starbreaker could include
the general English-speaking world in his
auctions.
And, best of all, collectors over here would
finally hear about AND have a chance to
participate in the bidding.
Pretty cool, I think.
Anyway, that's the whole story. If anyone has any
further questions, I invite you to email me
directly at bustakei@yahoo.com, and I'll do my
level best to answer 'em. But this thread has
taken up enough space here -- let's give Yann a
break. *grin*
