Ditto on Mina's response.  (And BTW, I also have 
never bought a cel to prevent someone else from 
having it.  I usually feel badly that other 
people end up missing out.) 

It the eBay seller had only one fancel and it was 
the same image as one of my cels, I would 
probably overlook it on the grounds that they 
were merely reproducing a popular scene.  
However:  

1)It is highly unlikely that the fanartist would 
have made that cel from a screencap, because it's 
not one of the most popular scenes of the show 
and their chances of getting that exact frame in 
the shot are slim to none.  The fancel is 
obviously modeled after the same frame as my cel.

2) There is at least one other fancel that she's 
auctioning which is also modeled after a cel in 
Mina's gallery.  I can pretty much assure you 
that this fancel was not made from a screencap.  
Since it's not happened only once but twice, it 
would seem that the seller has been raiding 
people's galleries and making fancels from their 
images without their permission.  That is what I 
find objectionable about the whole fiasco.

You make some good points which are important to 
keep in mind...  I think we're probably in 
agreement on most of the issue.  (I, for example, 
would really love to have a fancel from one of 
the last episodes of Utena!)
